Peter Ward is in his sixth season at USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, serving as the NTDP’s director of player personnel for the third year. His responsibilities include identification, evaluation and recruitment of potential NTDP players.
Ward started at the NTDP in 2008 as the assistant director of player personnel. Prior to that, Ward spent two years (2006-08) as the U.S. Director of Central Scouting for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He also spent a year as a scout for the league.
Ward has also been involved in the sport through multiple coaching roles with various domestic junior hockey teams. In 2007-08, Ward served as the associate head coach for the South Shore Kings of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and helped guide the team to the EJHL semifinals. He also served as an assistant coach for the EJHL’s New England Junior Huskies in 2006-07. Ward served as the head coach and general manager of the Walpole Express of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League in the 2005-06 campaign.
The Andover, Mass., native is also responsible for the planning and implementation of the NTDP Tryout Camp, held each year to help determine the roster for the incoming teams.
